On the heals of my Women in Progress premiere, I was drawn to Grégoire Huret’s drawing “Autumn” (1620–70). The captivating glance of the personfication of Autumn draws the viewer to her gaze, while in one hand, she gathers grapes with a miniature sickle. I incorporated this wonderful image in this Iconic, in which Autumn’s symbolism of plenitude is expressed in the cascade of grapes.
