Icons / Poetics Show May 2017
Sixteen of my works from the Iconics collection are being exhibited at the Union League Gallery, May 1 – 31, 2017. To view the exhibition page as well as the full Iconics series, please go to my studio site. The Union League Gallery is housed inside the prestigious Club of the same name on Park Avenue and 37th Street in New York City. The selected works focus on iconography and poetry. Here is the show write-up:
“Featured in the gallery this May are innovative works from the imagination of Claudia Palmira, a native New Yorker, who now lives and paints in Rome. Her work looks back at cultural icons and forward to the representations and juxtopositions available through new technologies. The result is a distinctly contemporary oevre replete with proud references to the works of masters of the Roman, Renaissance and Barique periods, whose marks appear everywhere around her adopted home. The works revisit the visual poetics of the past and encourage a fresh look at iconic landmarks that have paved the path of art history.”
