“Inner Calligraphics” | Solo show at Studio DFB, Rome

April is bringing something I’ve been quietly building toward for a long time.

Inner Calligraphics opens April 16th at Studio DFB, the Rome gallery of artist Alberto Di Fabio, a friend and inspiration, and also one of Italy’s most internationally recognized contemporary artists. That his gallery is the setting for this show means a great deal to me. Here is a hub of contemporary art, performance, poetry and music, a true salon space. I am continuously drawn to the shows and events hosted here, outside the pristine historic center and in what I think of as the “East Village” neighborhood of Rome: Pigneto.

Curated by Mattia Andres Lombardo and Anamarija Runtic, and overseen by its founder, the show comprises a few series of my works. The arc spans nearly twenty years of my studio in Rome: Sumi ink, wood, calligraphic abstractions on paper, and Iconics prints. Different mediums, different moments in one continuous inner conversation.

The opening by invitation on April 16th, 6–9 pm. The show itself uns through April 30th and can be visited by appointment at Via Raimondo Montecuccoli 28a.
