“Metamorphosis” - Iconic series.

With Ovid on my mind after visiting the show with this title at the Galleria Borghese, discovering an ancient bookplate for the Metamorphosis became the centerpiece of this work. The text is overlaid with abstracted painted strokes forming a phrase “La morta ben venga”.

This new work went out to all my email subscribers along with my latest musings. I send it once per month.

On the heels of the major Metamorphosis show at Villa Borghese, here I share one of the three works in my own series dedicated to the ancient author and his work.

This Ovid series continues a dialogue with classical myth in abstract visual language. This is Hera, a painting about submerged power.

All three in this series were exhibited at the recent solo exhibition in Rome at Studio DFB .

A’s for some Q’s at my recent solo show at Studio DFB…
2 - the work exhibited was all mine. The show was anthological, and the works were from different periods and in different mediums. PS I think the curators were so clever in how they organized it so harmoniously !
3 - what unites the series is my own hand and exploration. If interested in a longer share, I can send a link to my artist statement 🫶
4 - you can come see the works that were not sold by scheduling a Studio Visit . Installation views are in the link in bio.
5 - I am inspired by color, myth and poetry, by beauty that I perceive in layers of time… I’m into an exploration of frequency and higher states of consciousness
6 - after that, yes all the works are available for acquisition
7 - I went to Mt Holyoke College and studied Art History and Latin. Art is something I’ve always done, with and without formal training over time. I’ve been fortunate to have a career in design and art direction which has fueled creativity and kept me on the edge of learning all the time
