Pınar Uçar Gül’s Cool Patterned Look

In my work, I find myself balancing my passion for order and clean lines with a vibe for the explosively expressive. I’ve written about maximalist brands – and I’ve always got my eye out for the bold designers who put forth pattern and color in an unusual way. Recently, wandering down a side street in Istanbul near my hotel, the colorful shop of oops cool drew me inexplicably into its bright interior. The salesperson there ushered me downstairs to view their sample sale, featuring shirts, skirts and dresses made in a style of digital collage that felt akin to my own work.

It turns out that this brand was founded by Pınar Uçar Gül, a woman with a passion to bring patterns into the world. Her mission and style feel kindred to my own, and I’m completely inspired by her truly cool brand.
