Writing with ink or pigment on paper gets my hand Writing with ink or pigment on paper gets my hand moving. I discover phrases and happen upon words that stand out and want to be painted.
Here, the poetry of Ovid is the subject, taking lines from the Metamorphoses. In my painting series on the subject, each painting emerged from a single phrase describing one of the mythical goddesses: Persephone, Athena and Hera.
The Ovid series is currently available to view in my Prati studio by appointment, as are my works on paper. Comment STUDIO and I will DM to organize a visit

She is part of the Ovid series, in which each work represents a mythical goddess. This one is all about Persephone, the archetype of the daughter who becomes queen through confronting the underworld, her own shadow.

With Ovid: Metamorphoses showing at the Galleria B With Ovid: Metamorphoses showing at the Galleria Borghese, I’m returning to my series made around the mythical.
This is “Spring Perpetuum Est”, about the goddess Persephone. It is paper, acrylic and ink on wood.
Ovid wrote perpetuum ver est: it is perpetual spring. The archetype of Persephone has always fascinated me. She is the daughter, impressionable and tied to her mother. To become the queen, she must confront the underworld, symbolizing her darkness and the masculine.
I painted this work inside that tension, between the pinks and decorative beauty of spring and the darker transformation underneath it.

If this piece speaks to you, DM me or comment “Persephone” and I’ll send you more details.

Show in progress ! My mini triptych began with so Show in progress !
My mini triptych began with something that fascinated me: a scientific exploration of consciousness in which three distinct spheres appeared in hypnotic states, forms that, when integrated, became a powerful unified awareness.
I made “Coscienza (pre-memory)” to externalize these archetypal colors which are associated with the soul, mind and spirit, small because they are a sketch for a larger work.
The piece is now part of the TINY BIENNALE at Temple University Gallery, Rome, beautifully curated by Shara Wasserman. All artworks are under 21cm. Through October 15.

… and thank you @giusi_stylecoach for your beautiful IG story on the experience ! 😍

After a Summer pause, I’m ready for a new season o After a Summer pause, I’m ready for a new season on social media 🔥

And beginning with something close to home: making art that will become a custom silk scarf for my alma mater, Mount Holyoke College.

I’m heading to the European symposium as a speaker this Fall, and I want to create something tangible to accompany my talk.

Here, the part of the process where the mark making begins, to be refined over time, before color is added. You can’t hear it, but I am listening to a specific piece of music as I paint.

Stay tuned ! 🫶 and nice to be back !

“Metamorphosis” - Iconic series. With Ovid on my “Metamorphosis” - Iconic series.

With Ovid on my mind after visiting the show with this title at the Galleria Borghese, discovering an ancient bookplate for the Metamorphosis became the centerpiece of this work. The text is overlaid with abstracted painted strokes forming a phrase “La morta ben venga”.

This new work went out to all my email subscribers along with my latest musings. I send it once per month.

This Ovid series continues a dialogue with classical myth in abstract visual language. This is Hera, a painting about submerged power.

All three in this series were exhibited at the recent solo exhibition in Rome at Studio DFB .
