The Owl (poem)

I’m slightly obsessed with this poem by Wendy Videlock. In my Group for Creatives, I suggested that this owl’s precision in choosing what she would consume could be inspiration for artists. But anyone can take note of the owl’s clarity of purpose, her integrity in knowing her needs.

The owl depicted in the Iconic is a drawing I created with black pen on transparent paper.

The owl

Beneath her nest,
a shrew’s head,
a finch’s beak
and the bones
of a quail attest
the owl devours
the hour,
and disregards
the rest
