Amidst a layered, painterly composition bathed in shades of green, emerge the words of Salvatore Brizzi:
“A un certo punto deve avvenire il collasso della mente e l’ingresso in uno stato di coscienza non ordinario, dove la Verità circa l’Universo è immediatamente realizzabile ma non comunicabile, se non attraverso l’atto artistico.”
“At a certain point, what must occur is a collapse of the mind and an entry into a non-ordinary state of consciousness, where the Truth about the Universe is immediately realized, yet not communicable – if not through art.”
While the concept that Beauty (artistic beauty) is Truth has been expressed throughout time by philosophers, poets and artists, the idea felt new when I read it in Italian, in the context of sublimating the mind in deference to this awareness.
