From Mark to Color: Claudia Palmira Presents Inner Calligraphics in Rome
At Alberto Di Fabio’s Studio DFB, the New York artist’s solo exhibition intertwines gesture, color and urban memory, between references to the city and an international scene gathered for the vernissage.
On Via Montecuccoli in the Pigneto neighborhood, where artist Alberto Di Fabio opened the vibrant Studio DFB, Claudia Palmira’s solo exhibition, Inner Calligraphics, opened. The eclectic New York artist chose Rome as her home and workspace many years ago. The gallery overlooks the street that has remained etched in the collective imagination as the location for Roberto Rossellini’s film Rome, Open City, particularly the cult scene featuring Anna Magnani, in one of her most powerful performances.
Many guests were present at the opening, dedicated to works that touch the expressive chords of black, white, and color, and are born from the artist’s relationship with the Eternal City. Among them were director Tommaso Mottola di Amato, founder of Capalbio Cinema, along with his wife Gørild Mauseth, a Norwegian actress; collectors Giampiero Ruzzetti, Paolo Cosmelli, and Michele Alfano; gallery owner Massimiliano Padovan di Benedetto, founder of Raw Rome Art Week; fashion designer Josephine de Huertas; jewelry designer Giulia Barela; and curators Mattia Andres Lombardo and Annamarija Runtic. Also arriving in Rome from the United States were Californian artist Henry Taylor and art advisor Rory Howard with actress Murielle Kockmann. The exhibition closes on May 2.
