Buccellati
In 2013, I saw the exquisite gem designs of JAR at the Met Museum. The nature-inspired creations transcend their form, becoming idealizations of their subject, and surely are transformational to any eventual wearer of the jewels – butterflies with diamond encrusted wings, sea shells of pearls, sapphire animal eyes embedded in ivory heads.
In my design, the ruby-petaled flower (by JAR) emerges, the last bloom of summer about to fade into autumn. I substituted purple for fall\’s pumpkin orange – there\’s a similar effect when pairing these bright-hues with black I think.
